The Relay For Life event took place this weekend is aid of Cancer Research Uk. The event is an overnight event that brings everyone in the community together to show that united we are stronger than cancer.
At Relay cancer survivors are celebrated, those lost are remembered and vital funds are raised to help beat cancer.
The event consists of members of different teams walking around the running track over 24 hours. At least one member from each team must be on the track over the duration of the Relay.
Teams are encouraged from all sectors of the community; groups of friends, families, work colleagues, sports associations or any others who may wish to make up a team and take part. Businesses are encouraged to enter this event as it can be a good team building exercise, and at the same time raising funds for such a worthy cause.
Relay For Life will also be a celebration of Cancer Survivorship. Cancer survivors will be invited to lead the Relay as guests in the firsts lap of honour and can later take part in a Candle Ceremony. Survivors are the living proof of the progress and success of research and the reason why we should continue to support Cancer Research UK.
Miss Gibraltar attended the event with her family where she took part in the relay.
