Miss Gibraltar supports Calpe House Gala evening!

The Calpe House Trust organized a Charity Gala Dinner at the Gibraltar Sunborn Yacht Hotel to celebrate the funraising efforts for the new Calpe House in London.

Miss Gibraltar attended in support with the rest of the Miss Gibraltar 2016 contestants. The Miss Gibraltar 2016 contestants spent the run up to the pageant fundraising and raising awareness for the new renovations of Calpe House. Miss Gibraltar will be carrying this on during her reign and in the lead up to the Miss World Pageant 2016.

A donation of £23,250 was presented to the Calpe House Trust by the Chief Minister at a charity gala this weekend.

The money was left over from last year’s Gibraltar Music Festival electronic wristbands: money, the Chief Minister said, which the Government couldn’t give back to the festival-goers, so was “giving back to everyone by giving it to Calpe House”. A GMF spokeperson reiterated to GBC that though refunds were initially planned, organisers then warned and reminded festival-goers that these would not be possible. They have confirmed refunds will be possible this year, with more details to be given.

Fabian Picardo also announced that Government ministers have committed £100 a month from their salaries for Calpe House. £6,500 was raised through an auction, where a Christian Hook print was sold.

The UK Chairman of the Calpe House Trust, Albert Poggio, said half a million pounds will have been raised by the end of the month, with the Trust on target to raise its first million.
