Day 9 1st princess at Miss International, Japan - Joseanne's Diary

Day 9 - Today was a beautiful sunny day and we took a tour to Shizuoka! We took a cable car up to the amazing Kunouzan shrine! This shrine is Japan's national treasure built 400 years ago to worship the soul of Ieyasu Tokugawa, the first Tokugawa shogun. After visiting and learning about its history we took a trip to a green tea field.

This was one of the highlights of my day because I am obsessed with tea and I drink numerous cups of green tea a day (for me one of the perks of being in Japan) From this field we were also able to view the peak of Mount Fuji above the clouds. Mt. Fuji is an active volcano about 100 kilometers southwest of Tokyo. It is the country’s tallest peak, at 3,776 meters. I will visit it later on in the month, however, hikers can only climb to the summit during July and August. Shizuoka is famous for its port as it is right by the sea, and for lunch we were served fresh raw japanese sushi. I would be lying if I said I prefered it to the more Western style sushi we find at home  but I am glad I got to experience the real deal!  After lunch we visited Andou Hiroshige Museum of Art and also walked around the Shizuoka area to see some more of the beautiful views! I am now on the coach back to Tokyo! Can't wait for tomorrow's activities! Hope you enjoy these picturea from today.
