08 Nov 2011 - Miss Gibraltar 2012 Recruitment of Contestants

The Ministry of Culture is inviting young ladies to sign up to the 2012 Miss Gibraltar Pageant. The Pageant will be held on Saturday 21st April 2012, at St Michael’s Cave and is being produced by Stage One Productions.

Candidates must be aged between 17 (as at 21st April 2012) and not more than 24 years old (as at 31 July 2012).

The winner of the Pageant will represent Gibraltar at the Miss World Pageant, to be held in July 2012, in Ordos, Inner Mongolia, China.

Prizes are:

Miss Gibraltar £2,000 cash
£3,500 clothing allowance
1st Princess
£1,000 cash
£500 clothing allowance
2nd Princess £500 cash
£500 clothing allowance

01 Jul 2011 - Miss Gibraltar 2011 Cheque Presentation

The Minister for Culture, Heritage, Sport & Leisure, the Hon Edwin Reyes, today presented cheques to the value of £5,000 in respect of the prize money awarded to the winners of the Miss Gibraltar Pageant.

The Minister presented a £2,500 cheque to Miss Gibraltar 2011 Michelle Gillingwater Pedersen which includes a clothing allowance to participate at the Miss World Finals. Cheques were also presented to 1st Princesses, Jessica Baldachino, for £1,000 and 2nd Princess, Chantal Canepa, for £500. Minister Reyes wished Miss Gibraltar and her two Princesses all the very best in their year ahead.

The Minister also presented a cheque to Miss Gibraltar 2010, Larissa Dalli for £1,000, being her prize money balance due on completion of her reign, and thanked her for the wonderful work she had done during her reign.

   

27 Jun 2011 - Miss Gibraltar 2011

The 2011 Miss Pageant was held at the Alameda Open Air Theatre on Saturday 25th June 2011. A total of 10 contestants took part in a show organised on behalf of the Ministry of Culture by Santos Productions.

The show featured local talent as well as international guests including Katie Waisell and Jamie ‘Afro’ Archer from X factor.

The winners as follows:

  • Miss Gibraltar 2011 – Michelle Gillingwater Pedersen
  • 1st Princess – Jessica Baldachino
  • 2nd Princess – Chantal Canepa
  • Best Interview – Kirsty Victory
  • Miss Friendship – Rubaina Pincho
  • Miss Catwalk – Kirsty Victory
  • Miss Photogenic – Gianna Robba

Michelle Gillingwater Pedersen was crowned by Miss Gibraltar 2010 Larissa Dalli. Michelle told a packed theatre, ‘It’s absolutely incredible. It means the world to me.’ She will be representing Gibraltar at the Miss World Finals to be held in London, England in November 2011.

   

27 Apr 2011 - Mayor's Reception

His Worship the Mayor, Mr Anthony Lombard LIB, yesterday hosted a reception at the City Hall in connection with the Miss Gibraltar Pageant 2011.

At the Mayor’s Reception this year’s ten contestants drew their official numbers for the pageant in the presence of his Worship the Mayor.

The Contestants have drawn their numbers for the Pageant, which are as follows:

16 Mar 2011 - Eleven Contestants for Miss Gibraltar 2011

11 contestants have signed on for the Miss Gibraltar Pageant 2011. The final takes place on Saturday 25th June 2011 at 9.30pm at the Alameda Open Air Theatre. The show is being organised by Santos Productions on behalf of the Ministry of Culture and shall be aired live by Gibraltar Broadcasting Corporation (GBC).
