In her first interview with the press she said:

'I cannot believe it. It is an honour to be the first Gibraltarian of Moroccan descent to have being crowned Miss Gibraltar. I am going to make everyone proud and cannot wait to get started.

Maroua speaks English, Spanish, Arabic and some French. She enjoys modelling, keeping fit and doing voluntary work for different charities. She hopes to be a solid role model and and inspiration to the many young Gibraltarians in the community.
